Dropped $310 on a tool presetter I used 4 times in a year
Bought a nice tool presetter for my home shop back in March because I figured I'd save time off the machine. Ran the math on it last week: 4 setups in a whole year, and I still touched off most tools the old way out of habit. $310 for a dust collector, basically. What's the dumbest money you guys have sunk into a shop upgrade you barely touched?
Four uses in a year works out to about $77 per setup, which honestly is not the craziest shop math I have seen. A lot of home shop gear sits idle most of the year, and the guys who own it still say they are glad they had it the one time it saved them an hour of indicating. Seems more like a mild waste than a real screwup.
