Spindle speed override is a feature not a crutch, here's my epiphany
Ran a batch of 304 stainless last week and kept fighting terrible surface finish. Tried different feeds, new inserts, even coolant mix, nothing worked. On a whim I dropped the spindle override from 100% to 85% just to see what would happen. Finish went from garbage to mirror clean in one pass, no tool wear spike either. I always thought running slower was admitting defeat, but now I check override on every new material. Anyone else got a bonehead simple fix that took them years to stumble onto?

But lower spindle speed means lower surface footage, so that's not really reducing cutting speed.
