Used to spin every tap by hand until my lead hand showed me the feed hold trick
For the first two years on the floor I'd jog the spindle down with the handwheel every time I needed to check a tapped hole, which ate up at least 15 minutes a shift on the 6-32 jobs. My lead hand walked over in March and showed me how to program a feed hold right after the tap retracts so the spindle parks where I can hit it with the plug gauge without touching the pendant. Do you guys write the hold into the program from the start, or just lean on the single block button when it matters?
