I finally fixed my endless syntax errors with a dumb 30 second ritual
Two months ago every time I ran my Python script I got a wall of red error text, and I'd stare at the line number for like 20 minutes before spotting it was just a missing colon on line 47. So I started reading the file out loud, top to bottom, before hitting run even once. It felt silly, like I was a kid reading to my teacher in second grade, and my roommate actually asked who I was talking to in the kitchen. But after 3 days of doing it, my error count dropped from about 15 a session to like 2. I also started deleting lines one at a time when something broke, like a reverse build, and the bug usually jumps out within 5 deletes. Honestly the out loud part gets weird looks but it works, so whatever. Has anyone else tried reading code aloud, or am I the only one mumbling at my laptop at 11pm?
