Bought a $200 grinder and still had sour coffee, then a guy at a shop in Portland told me to check my water
I was chasing this sour taste in my pour overs for 3 weeks and kept blaming the beans and my grind size. I finally brought a cup to a small shop in Portland and the barista asked what water I was using, and I told him plain tap. He pulled out a little test strip and my water was super hard, which was killing the flavor the whole time. Switched to a $2 gallon of distilled water with some mineral drops and the same beans tasted sweet the next morning. Tbh I felt dumb, so has anyone else found out their tap water was the real problem the whole time?
