Dropped $80 on a "mint" copy of Saga #1 on eBay that showed up with a coffee ring on the cover
Seller's photos were from a different angle so I couldn't see the stain, and by the time I noticed, the return window was gone. Anyone got a go-to way to check condition before buying singles online, or should I just stick to my local shop?
Did you know that some sellers actually use coffee rings as a way to hide creases in the pages? I bought a Wolverine #1 years ago that had this faint brown circle on the back, and when I peeled the corner up, the whole bottom half of the book was water damaged underneath. Local shops will at least let you flip through the book in person before you hand over cash.
