Just realized I picked raw copies over slabs for my first big con buy, and I'm still split on it
Back in March at the Emerald City show in Seattle I had about $300 set aside and two copies of the same Batman book in front of me, one raw for $180 and one CGC 9.4 slab for $290. I stood there for maybe ten minutes doing math in my head and went with the raw copy. My thinking was that I could put the extra money into a few cheaper books for my pull list instead of blowing it all on one plastic brick. The raw copy turned out to be a solid 9.0 to my eye, but the seller wouldn't budge when I asked about pressing, so I'll probably send it in myself later this year. Part of me still wonders if I should have just grabbed the slab and saved myself the grading fee and the waiting. Curious how you all handle this when a raw and a graded copy of the same book are sitting next to each other, do you go for the known grade or roll the dice?
