TIL I was tying my lift bags wrong for two years

Had a supervisor on a job in Port Arthur pull me aside after watching me fumble a 50-foot bag lift and showed me the proper half-hitch setup, and now I'm wondering how many other little things I've been doing backwards this whole time... anyone else have that moment where you realize a basic skill was completely off?

Jumping in to say the half-hitch trick changed my whole world too (like, embarrassingly recently). It's wild how we just assume we're doing something right because nobody ever said otherwise, you know? Now I'm side-eyeing every knot and strap I use on a job, half-convinced there's a better way I'm missing.

See I actually kinda disagree, I think there's something to be said for just having a system that works and sticking with it instead of overthinking every little thing. Half the time I try to "optimize" my knots I just end up making a mess.

Ask @the_robin what knot or strap they're side-eyeing the most right now because I've got a feeling we're all in the same boat with something basic. It's funny how one little trick makes you second-guess every other habit you thought was locked in solid. I'd bet half the stuff we do on the regular has a cleaner version we just never stumbled across.
