Reflow trick saved a laptop I almost scrapped

Last Tuesday a customer brought in an HP that would shut off randomly after 10 minutes. I figured it was the GPU since it got worse with load. Before I told them it was a $450 board swap, I tried the old heat gun reflow at 190C for about 4 minutes on the chip. It has been running stress tests for 2 days now without a single drop. Has anyone else had luck with this or do I just keep expecting it to die again?
