Serious question, has anyone else had a client's old PC run way better after just cleaning the heat sink?

I had a customer bring in a 5 year old gaming rig that was overheating and shutting down. I opened it up and the CPU heat sink was completely clogged with dust, like a solid gray blanket. After I cleaned it out with a soft brush and some canned air, the idle temps dropped from 85C to 35C in under an hour. It's crazy how often the fix is just basic cleaning and not a hardware swap. What's the most dramatic temp drop you've seen from just cleaning?

Basic cleaning" is a band-aid for bad airflow design.

What did you end up doing? I had to add a whole new vent in my old place.
