A foreman told me to stop overworking my finish after 10 yrs of doing it my way
I was finishing a 4,000 sq ft warehouse slab in Tulsa and kept going over the same section with my trowel til it was glass smooth, which is how I was taught. The foreman pulled me aside and said 'you're burning the top and it'll craze in a year, let the cream set up and quit touching it.' Now I wait longer between passes and my slabs come out cleaner, has anyone else had a lead hand call them out like that?
Burning the cream is real and nobody talks about it enough. Working it too long brings the water up and weakens the top, so waiting is the whole game. Sounds like your foreman saved you a callback.
