My neighbor in Denver finally admitted he'd never actually seen the evidence for that one chemtrails claim.
We were shoveling snow last month and he just shrugged and said, 'I guess I just heard it online a lot,' which made me feel like my calm fact-checking links over the years actually got through.

That's a huge win right there. Planting a seed of doubt is way more effective than trying to win an argument in one shot. The slow drip of calm info over time is what actually works.

Planting a seed of doubt is a solid strategy. My own attempts at winning an argument in one shot usually end with me explaining my point to a confused dog. The overnight sit is key, gives everyone time to realize they might be wrong, or at least that I'm not entirely crazy. It's a humble move that works better than my usual approach of talking louder.
