Watched a JFK doc with my uncle in 2003 and he pulled out his own binders, that night messed up how I watch everything
Back in 2003 I was crashing at my uncle's place in Bakersfield for a couple weeks between jobs, and one night he pops in a JFK tape he taped off TV years earlier. I figured it was just background noise until he pauses it and walks over to a shelf with like 6 binders full of printed articles. He starts pointing at frames and times, saying which ones the official report explained and which ones it just skipped over. I was 22 and had never once questioned what I learned in school, and sitting there with him till almost 2am kind of cracked something open for me. Now every time a big story comes out I catch myself asking who benefits and what part is just missing. My uncle passed a few years back but I still have one of those binders on my shelf. Do you all have a specific moment or person that flipped the switch for you, or did it happen slow over time?

Man, that's a hell of a way to wake up at 22. Mine was slow, just years of noticing stories that never got a follow up.
