My crew keeps nailing submittal revisions for copper pipe sizes but nobody checks the actual pipe on site
Been running installs for 4 years now and I keep seeing the same gap on jobs around Denver. The office sends over a submittal package with 3/4 inch copper drawn on every branch line, then the guys grab 1/2 inch off the rack because that's what was staged 2 weeks ago. Nobody catches it until the inspector tags it at rough-in and now we're cutting out 40 feet of pipe in a finished ceiling grid. Last month alone we ate $1,800 in rework on a single 6 unit job over this. The fix isn't more paperwork, it's making sure whoever unloads the truck compares the tag on the bundle to the current drawing before it goes in the rack. Anybody got a system that actually gets the field guys looking at rev 3 instead of rev 1?
