Vent: used my phone level app on a whole deck pour and the inspector called me out at 30 feet
I've been leaning on that free bubble level app for about two years, mostly on small stuff, but last month I framed a 16x20 deck in Nashville and the inspector hit me with 'that app drifts when it warms up in your hand.' I grabbed my old Stabila out of the truck, checked it, and sure enough I was off by almost half an inch over the run. How many of you still trust your phone for anything beyond hanging a picture frame, or did everyone else already learn this the hard way?
Man, that half inch over the run stings, but honestly you got lucky the inspector caught it before the joists went down. I did the same thing on a small shed slab last summer and the bubble app had me chasing my tail for an hour before I figured out it was the app, not the form. Phone sensors just aren't built for that kind of accuracy, they drift with temp and even how you're holding it. Sorry that one cost you a recheck, but good on you for having the Stabila stashed in the truck.
