Am I the only one who thinks booth rent at $250 a week in Austin is killing this trade
Three years ago I paid $140 a week at a salon off South Lamar and last month the owner sat me down and said it's going to $250 or I can clear out my station by Friday. I get that rent is up everywhere but at some point we are all just working to cover the chair, not building anything for ourselves. A booth is a business, not a paycheck with extra steps, and I think stylists need to start pushing back or walking. What's the going rate in your city and does anyone actually feel like they come out ahead on commission vs rent?
