Bride's mom almost fainted when she saw the hairspray bill

Last month I did a wedding party of 8 at the Hilton in downtown Nashville. The mother of the bride kept asking for more hold on every single updo, so I went through two full cans of hairspray by the time we were done. When I handed her the invoice for $380, she went pale and asked if I charged extra for the fumes. Has anyone else dealt with clients who don't realize product costs add up fast, or do you just bake it into the flat fee?

That $380 seems pretty fair honestly for that much extra product, she basically asked you to use double what you'd normally plan for. I'd say next time just mention the product upcharge before you start spraying so nobody's shocked when the invoice drops.
