My 50th permanent wave hit different

I've been doing perms for about 6 years now, and I always thought I had a good handle on them. But last week I did my 50th one since I started keeping track, and it came out absolutely perfect. No frizz, no uneven curl, just exactly what the client wanted. I was surprised because I usually second-guess my rod placement or processing time, but this time I just trusted my hands. Has anyone else had a random milestone that made you feel like you finally got it?

Has it always felt that smooth and natural when you finally nail one?

Funny you mention that, because I think that's just how mastery works in general. Every time I've finally gotten good at something, it's never been a straight line uphill, it's more like plateaus where you feel stuck and then one day it just clicks without you even trying. Same thing happened to me when I learned to parallel park after years of being terrible at it. One day I just pulled into a tight spot perfectly without thinking, and after that I never sucked at it again. So yeah, that 50th perm was probably you crossing over from thinking about every step to just knowing what to do.
