Rant: new stylists keep cutting hair wet and calling it a dry cut
I had a girl fresh out of school do a dry cut on my client last Tuesday and she kept spritzing the ends the whole time. That is not a dry cut, that is a wet cut with extra steps. I have been behind the chair for 9 years and a true dry cut means you section and cut the hair exactly how it sits, no water bottle involved. The problem is YouTube tutorials show people misting the hair and then calling it dry cutting, so now clients in my chair ask for it by name and get confused when I explain the difference. I know it matters because dry hair shows the natural growth pattern and wet hair hides it, so you end up with a cut that looks fine when wet and uneven a day later. Does anyone else have a school nearby teaching this, or is it just around here?
