Shoutout to the guy in Tulsa who told me my gel polish lamp was too strong
About two months back I was doing a full set on a regular and my UV lamp kept making her wince, so I blamed her skin. Then I picked up a $9 light meter at a supply store in Tulsa and tested my setup, and the thing was running way hotter than the box claimed. Turns out I had been curing gels at a setting meant for hard gels, not soft gels, which is why clients kept complaining about that little burning zap on the first coat. I switched to lower output and let it run an extra 15 seconds, and I haven't heard a single complaint in 6 weeks. Any of you ever check your lamp's real output, or are we all just trusting the sticker on the side?
