The $130 diffuser that ate my whole Saturday

Bought that fancy ionic diffuser from the supply store, the one everyone raves about. Took it home, used it on a client with thick curly hair, and it just spat her curls everywhere. Took me an hour to fix what it messed up in 10 minutes. Total waste of cash and time. Now I'm back to my old $25 one that actually clamps right. Anyone else ever get burned by expensive tools that just look good on the shelf?

Did you ever stop to think the issue might be technique, not the tool? Expensive diffusers usually need a slower hand and lower heat, and most people blast them on high like a cheap one. I paid triple for mine and it took a few tries to get the hang of it, but now my curly clients leave looking better than they ever did with that old clamp.

Take any tool in this industry and it follows the same pattern, people blame the gear before they question their own habits. I've seen guys drop serious money on new clippers only to realize they were pushing too hard into the skin the whole time. The fancy stuff just exposes bad habits faster, that's all it really does.
