Visited a booth at a convention in Chicago and watched a cosmetologist use a paddle brush as a cutting tool
Saw someone at the IBS show last month using a paddle brush to section and cut hair at the same time, and I'm still mad I never thought of it myself how do you guys feel about unconventional tool hacks?

I read somewhere that a stylist in LA swears by using a chopstick for precise sectioning, which is wild but also kinda genius. The paddle brush trick sounds like a time saver but I'd be scared of it pulling too much or messing up my tension. I saw a video where someone used a tail comb to flip sections for a razor cut and it looked smooth but risky. For me, I'll stick with my basic clips and shears, I'm too clumsy to try anything fancy.

Oh man, I read that chopstick thing too and it honestly makes me want to try it since my clips always slide around on thick hair. Have you ever given a weird tool a shot just to see if it works?

Is it really that serious though? I mean, we're cutting hair not performing surgery. @walker.julia I get what you're saying about the chopstick thing but honestly a basic metal tail comb does the same job without looking like you're about to eat your client's lunch. Paddle brush trick sounds like a gimmick that would just tangle my sections and waste time fixing the mess. Maybe I'm just old school but I'd rather keep it simple and not have to explain to a client why their hair looks like a experiment gone wrong.
