Wrote off balayage as a fad for 3 years, then a client in Austin showed me her grow out at 6 months
The blend was still soft with zero harsh line, so I finally ate my words and booked a class. Anyone else change their mind on a technique once they saw how it ages, or am I late to this party?

The "zero harsh line" part is what got me too, because that was always my big worry with any color that grows out. I saw a girl on YouTube do a two year grow out test with balayage and the roots just blended into this soft shadow the whole time, no weird banding like you get with foil highlights. That video alone made me stop talking trash about it. What I figured out is the technique is only as good as the person painting it, so bad balayage still looks bad, which is probably why so many of us called it a fad early on. You are not late, you just waited until you saw proof it holds up, which is honestly the smart way to pick up any new method. Booking the class will teach you the sectioning and saturation way better than any video ever could.
