Finally got the jib extension on my old Link-Belt to stop binding

It started with a slight catch when I was extending it on a job in Tacoma. Thought it was just some dirt in the track, so I cleaned it out. That turned into a full afternoon of taking apart the roller guides, finding a worn pin that was just slightly out of spec. The whole thing, from first noticing the problem to having it run smooth, took about 7 hours when I figured it would be a 30 minute fix. Anyone else had to chase down a tiny part that caused a huge headache?

Ever have a problem that just keeps getting bigger? I spent a whole day chasing a weird vibration in a pump, turned out to be a single cracked impeller vane. It's always the smallest thing that takes the most time to find.

Actually @evan_davis, it's the small things that cause the biggest headaches. That tiny crack just throws everything off balance.

Tell me about it. My car had this weird clicking noise for weeks, drove me crazy. Finally found a pebble stuck in the tire tread, of all things. Felt so dumb for all the big stuff I checked first.
