That $240 wireless load indicator I bought barely lasted a season

Last spring I dropped $240 on a wireless load indicator for my crawler crane, thinking it would save me time on setups. By October the receiver kept dropping signal every time I swung near a transformer yard. I sent it back to the company and they said water got into the casing, which was NOT rated for rain, even though the box showed a picture of a crane in a storm. Spent another $60 on shipping and diagnostics to get that answer. Now I just stick with the hardwired unit from the factory and keep a spare cable in the cab. Anyone else had a fancy wireless gadget fail on them in the field, or am I the only one who got hooked by the marketing?
