Update: that 18 ton pick in Bakersfield went worse than my gut said
I skipped the rigging calc and trusted my feel on a spreader bar setup, then the load swung three feet on pickup and I had to reset everything in 103 degree heat. The app would have caught the off-center CG in 20 seconds, so has anyone else had a close call that made them stop trusting experience over the numbers?

You ever get that gut feeling that's just your brain being lazy about math? I had a buddy who swore by his hand signals until a crane operator misread one and we nearly dropped a beam on a parked semi.
