Wasted $280 on a load chart app that didn't match my old Grove's chart
Bought a load chart app for $280 after a guy at the yard in Tulsa swore it covered every older rig. Tried it on my Grove RT528C and the radius numbers were off by almost 400 pounds at 40 feet, which is a big deal when you're swinging pipe. The app maker basically said my machine was too old and stopped answering emails. Anyone got a chart source for older Groves that actually holds up, or am I stuck hauling the paper book around forever?
Remembered buying a used brake job DVD off a guy on Craigslist years back, swore it covered every Ford truck from 92 to 2010. Got it home and the torque specs were for the wrong axle, so I had a buddy with the same truck double check my work while I torqued everything. Ended up fine, but it taught me that cheap info on old machines is a gamble every time. Your Grove thing is the same deal, the app guys build for what most people run and older rigs get dropped. Have you tried calling Grove direct with the serial number? A lot of times the factory will email you a PDF of the original chart for free if you ask nice. That paper book is a pain but at least it was right when it left the factory.
