Rant: I swore off prompt generators for 2 months, then one gave me a short story idea that actually worked
Two months back I told everyone in my writing group at the Dayton library that random prompt generators were lazy and I'd stick to a notebook, then last week I typed one sentence into a free generator out of boredom and it spit out a character detail about a plumber who collects other people's lost keys that turned into a full 1,200 word draft. The weird part is the prompt was so dumb I almost closed the tab, but the constraint forced me to write something I'd never have come up with alone. So am I just slow to come around, or has anyone else had a random prompt actually unlock a story?
