Spent 3 years writing prompts only after I had the whole plot mapped out, and that was backwards
I used to build a full outline before I touched a prompt, thinking the prompt should just serve the plot I already decided on. Then in April I tried the opposite for a short story about a bus driver in Cleveland, wrote the prompt first with no plan at all, and got 4 pages out of one line about a lost glove. Does anyone else write the prompt cold before they have any idea where the story goes, or am I just wasting time that way?
