Lost $400 on a credit repair scam that promised to fix my rental history

I paid a company called RapidRentFix $400 upfront to clean up my credit for a house rental. They said they'd remove a late payment from 2022 and have it done in 30 days. After 6 weeks of excuses and no changes, I asked for a refund and they ghosted me. Turns out you can't pay to speed up the credit repair process like that. Has anyone else fallen for one of these promises and gotten their money back?

Chargeback with your bank is your best bet.

Totally agree. @josephbailey nailed it, I did the same thing last year and my bank had the money back in a few days with just the tracking number.

Man, you said it. My bank saved me when a company totally ghosted me after I returned a broken item. They had the money back in my account within a week, no questions asked. I even had to send them the tracking number showing it was delivered to the company, and they handled the rest. It's such a relief knowing you don't have to fight those shady businesses alone. Worth every minute of the call to the bank.
