Paid a credit repair company $89 a month for 7 months before I realized I could dispute stuff myself
Back in March I signed up with one of those credit repair outfits that promised to bump my score 100 points so I could qualify for a duplex. They charged me $89 a month and all they really did was mail dispute letters I could have written myself for free. When I finally asked for proof of what they had done, they sent me a generic report that just showed the same 3 accounts I already knew about. I looked up how to file disputes directly with the bureaus and did it in one afternoon on my phone. Has anyone here actually gotten a real score jump from a repair company, or is it all just templated letters?
