Quit arguing with my lender and finally read the actual mortgage contract

For two years I fought my bank over a late fee on my mortgage, thought they were crooks. Then I pulled my loan docs from 2019 and saw the exact 5% late charge in writing on page 14. I was dead wrong the whole time. Has anyone else been blindsided by something sitting in their own file?
