Switched from random passwords to a passphrase system after a scare in March

I used to let my browser save everything and reuse the same garbage password for like 5 different accounts. Then in March someone got into my email through a data breach and started resetting my other logins. Took me a full day to lock everything down. Now I use three random words plus a number pattern that makes sense only to me, and I keep a paper list in my safe as backup. Has anyone else gone back to paper after an incident, or am I the only one who doesn't trust password managers fully?

Have you tried a password manager since the scare, or did you rule it out right away? I get the appeal of paper, but to me that's swapping one risk for another. A lost or damaged list is just as bad as a breach, and you can't sync it when you're out and about. I use a manager with a strong master password and two-factor, and honestly it feels safer than my own memory or a physical sheet. Your mileage may vary, but I'd hate to lose that paper in a move or a fire and be locked out of everything.
