Two-factor fatigue made me slack off, until my Venmo got hit
I used to think app-based 2FA was overkill for personal accounts. My bank password was 14 characters, so I figured that was enough. Then last March someone in Ohio got into my Venmo through a SIM swap, even though I never clicked anything shady. They drained $230 before I even got the text alert. Now I use an authenticator app for anything tied to money, and honestly I feel dumb for resisting it so long. Has anyone else had a close call that made them change their mind about extra security steps?
