My $9 "luxury" espresso machine lasted 3 pulls before the pump died

Scrolled past a listing for a brand name espresso machine marked down from $180 to $9, seller had 12 left and 4.9 stars. Paid with my card, not PayPal, and it showed up in 5 days packed in a cereal box. First shot came out watery, second one sputtered, third pull made a grinding noise and then nothing but warm air. Checked the seller's page again and it was gone, so I filed a dispute with my bank and got the cash back in a week. Has anyone else tested ultra cheap espresso gear and found a gem, or is it always a gamble?
