My uncle told me to always check the drain pump filter first on a washer that won't spin...

He said it like it was a law, and I rolled my eyes because the error code pointed to the motor. Spent an hour taking the back panel off, testing wires... nothing. Finally, I pulled the filter and found a kid's sock and about $2.37 in change jammed in there. The machine ran fine after I cleared it. Anyone else have a 'simple' tip they ignored that came back to bite them?

Got a nasty surprise under a carpet in a Portland duplex last week

I was pulling up the old berber in the upstairs hallway and found a huge patch of moldy plywood. The subfloor was soft and black, about three feet across. The homeowner swore they had no idea about any leaks. Now I always check for moisture with my meter before I even start cutting. Has anyone else had to walk away from a job because of hidden mold?

Vent: Trimming my record pile helped more than I expected

I had too many vinyl records and it made my room feel messy. Keeping just my top picks means I actually play them all now. How do you decide what stays in your hobby stuff?
