Update: That $29 dash cam I grabbed from a flash sale died 4 days in and took my SD card with it
Saw a deal last Tuesday on one of those daily deal sites for a 1080p dash cam for $29, marked down from $120, and the countdown timer said only 3 left. I bought it, it showed up Thursday, and I wired it into my Civic on Friday morning before work. It ran fine for 4 days, then Monday on I-90 outside Buffalo the screen just went black and it got hot enough that I pulled over and yanked the cord. The cam is dead but the worse part is my 128GB card is now unreadable, and I had 6 weeks of footage on there including a fender bender from mid August that my insurance guy asked me for. I called the seller, got a bot, then a guy who said the 30 day window only covers the unit and not accessories, which a memory card apparently counts as. Now I'm out $29 plus the $22 card plus the clip I actually needed for my claim. Did the math and the 'original' price was fake too, the same model sits at $34 on a site that never runs sales. Has anyone gotten a card recovered after a cheap cam fried it, or am I just eating this one?
