Vent: My group project imploded over a shared doc and I still don't know who to blame

Last semester in my marketing class, our team of 4 had a 6 week campaign project. Three weeks in, someone accidentally deleted the entire competitor analysis section from our Google Doc, and nobody owned up to it. I was at my kitchen table in Austin at 11 pm when I saw the edit history, and we lost about 8 hours of combined work. Half the team wanted to just redo it fast, the other half wanted to confront the person by checking login times. We ended up patching it together in two days, but the trust never came back and our final grade dropped to a B. Has anyone else dealt with a mystery deletion like this, and did you ever find out who did it?

Talked to a buddy from school who had the same thing happen in his engineering group. His group never found out who did it either, even after pulling the full edit log and checking timestamps against class schedules. They just had to eat the lost work and move on, which sounds exactly like your situation.
