Saw a clip of a politician's speech that seemed off, but the metadata checked out

The mouth movements looked slightly out of sync, which made me flag it as a fake. However, a reverse search found the original unedited C-SPAN footage from 2021, proving it was just bad compression. When do you trust the tech analysis over your own gut feeling on a video?

When does tech win? My gut's been right before. I saw a clip of a protest that looked sped up, but the timestamps were clean. Later, someone proved the audio was slowed down in parts to change the crowd's reaction. Tech can be fooled too. Sometimes you need to check the tech against other clues, not just take it as the final answer.

That's such a frustrating spot to be in. The tech proof has to win, even when it feels wrong.

But is it ever that big a deal?
