Figured out a trick for the 2am text regret spiral: schedule it for 7am instead of sending
I was in bed in Denver at 1:47am after a bad date and typed out this whole paragraph to her, but instead of hitting send I set it as a scheduled text for 7am so I'd have to look at it again in daylight. Woke up, read it, deleted it immediately, and now I do this with every angry or sad text. Has anyone else tried delaying sends like this or do you just raw dog the send button?
The "schedule it for 7am instead of sending" thing is genius and I wish I had known this years ago. I used to write out these long drunk texts to my ex and just blast them into the void at 2am, then wake up feeling like I got hit by a truck when I read what I said. Now I type it in my notes app and make myself sit on it until morning, and about 90% of the time I read it back and go what was I even on about. The sad part is the messages that survive the night are usually the ones I actually mean, so the delay kind of works as a filter. Raw dogging the send button has cost me way too much.
