My injector puller setup changed after a Cummins job in Fresno

Used to fight with slide hammers and prayer on stuck injectors, then a buddy showed me a 3/8 impact with a long reach socket and a little heat on the hold down bolts. Pulled all six in under 40 minutes last Tuesday. Anyone else ditch their old puller kit for this trick?

Drop the impact down to low range for the first couple of turns on those hold down bolts, though, otherwise you'll snap them clean off. Then once they're loose, let it rip and it'll save your wrists and knuckles from all that hammering. I still keep my old slide hammer for the really crusty ones that laugh at heat, but it's a last resort now. The long reach socket trick also works way better if you grind a little flat spot on the socket so it grabs the bolt head square. Once you get that rhythm down, 40 minutes feels slow, I did a set in 25 last month on a 6.7. Just make sure you hit the bolts with penetrating oil the night before and you'll be golden.
