Rant: my portfolio site crashed during a live critique session

I was showing my piece to a group of 12 artists last Tuesday and the whole portfolio site went down. It was the WORST timing because I just told everyone this was my best work in 2 years. Turns out my hosting plan only allowed 5GB of bandwidth and I blew through it from the traffic. I sat there refreshing for 10 minutes while people awkwardly stared at my loading screen. I moved everything over to a static gallery on a cheaper host with more bandwidth that night. Has anyone else had a platform fail them right when they needed to show off?
