Unpopular opinion: those "speed paint" videos with no narration are actually better

I see everyone loving the narrated tutorials with voiceovers, but I think a raw, silent speed paint from 2019 taught me more about brushwork in 3 minutes than any hour-long commentary. The pause between strokes tells you way more than someone talking about blending modes.

Oh man, this totally took me back. I remember trying to learn painting in 2018 and I found this one silent speed paint of a forest scene where the artist kept stopping to stare at the canvas for like 15 seconds before each stroke. Nobody talking, just pure hesitation and then a quick brush mark. It taught me more about composition than any tutorial because I had to figure out why they stopped. I mean, maybe it's just me but that silent space where you watch someone think through a problem is gold. Idk if narrated videos ever capture that same learning moment.

Gotta disagree with you a bit @wade_kelly77. I mean, it's just painting, not a life and death decision. You're reading way too deep into some pause.
