Found 4,000 bookmarks from a decade ago, my browser finally crashed for good

I was cleaning out my laptop last night and realized I had bookmarks going back to 2014, stuff like old flash games and dead shopping carts. My browser kept freezing for months and I blamed the wifi, but it was just me piling up 4,000 links I never opened once. Anyone else hit that point where the hoard literally breaks the machine, and how do you decide which ones actually matter to keep?

Figure out what's still live first, honestly. Half of my old bookmarks from 2012 are just dead links now, like pages that redirect to some spam site or give a 404. The real trick is sorting by date and just deleting anything you haven't touched in five years, no mercy. I kept maybe 200 out of 3,500, mostly recipes and car repair guides, and the rest went straight to the trash. The browser crashing isn't really about the count, it's the junk weighing it down, but you're right that piling them up is the real problem. Just do it in chunks, like 500 at a time, so you don't get overwhelmed and quit.
