Warning: my phone storage hit 98% during a layover at O'Hare and I nearly missed my flight
I was stuck at gate B17 in Chicago last Tuesday, trying to pull up my boarding pass, and my phone froze because I had 40,000 screenshots and 12 apps I never opened. I spent 20 minutes deleting memes and old receipts while the boarding call started, all because I never clean anything out. The scanner finally worked, but the panic made me realize I treat my phone like a junk drawer with a battery. Now I do a 10 minute purge every Sunday with a timer, just deleting one useless file at a time. It sounds dumb, but having 5GB free feels like having a spare pair of socks. Anyone else almost missed a flight or a train because their device was too clogged to function? What's your breaking point number, like 90% or 95% full?

Same thing happens with my laptop, it slows to a crawl once I hit 90% and suddenly every app decides to update at once. The real pattern I see is that people treat digital storage like physical space, they cram it full until something breaks instead of leaving breathing room. Once I started keeping a 20% buffer on everything, computer and phone, the daily annoyances just stopped happening.
