Is it smarter to slow travel or chase the cheapest flights?

I keep seeing nomads brag about visiting 6 countries in 3 weeks through Bangkok, but then they burn out and complain about working from hostels... I spent 4 months in Medellin on $900 a month and got more done than I did in 8 weeks hopping around Europe last summer. Why do we treat packing more cities into a trip as a win when the actual work and life quality seems to suffer, or am I just missing something about the fast lane approach?

Medellin on $900 a month sounds way more my speed too.
