Remember when detailers used to argue over lead holders vs. mechanical pencils?

Last month I found my old Koh-I-Noor 5616 in a toolbox and it took me right back to 2015 when everyone in the shop had an opinion about which grip felt better. Does anybody still use a lead holder for drafting, or is it all just clicky pencils now?

My Koh-I-Noor is still sitting in my desk drawer right now, I gave up on the whole lead holder thing after I kept snapping the lead during long drafting sessions. The mechanical pencil just felt smoother and I never looked back after switching to a Pentel P205 in 2018, though those old brass holders did look so cool in the pencil cup.

That Koh-I-Noor was the one that convinced me lead holders just weren't for me either. The brass hardware and the weight felt amazing in the hand but I spent more time sharpening and resetting broken points than actually drawing lines. That P205 is a workhorse though, mine has a patina of paint wear from years of pocket carry and it still writes perfectly every time. Funny how the prettier tools don't always get the job done better in the long run.

I feel you @thea602, I snapped so much lead back then it wasn't even funny. That old Koh-I-Noor still looks good on my desk too but I reach for a plastic Pentel way more often these days lol
