I just hit 15,000 hours on my old cutterhead pump and the guys at the yard think I'm pushing my luck.
They all say to rebuild at 10k, but the pressure's still solid and I haven't lost a day to downtime, so what's the real number based on besides the manual?

Know that feeling... manuals are written for the worst case, not the best maintained gear. If your oil analysis comes back clean and the casing isn't scored, sometimes you just gotta run it until it tells you it's done.

Funny how the manual's worst case also assumes average maintenance, not the guy who changes fluids early every single time.

So what's the actual risk if you go past the manual's worst case but your oil analysis is still good? Are we talking about a slightly shorter total engine life, or is it a gamble on sudden catastrophic failure?
