Bought a dusty PS2 at a garage sale for $10. The kid running it, maybe 12, asked if I was gonna softmod it. Laughed it off. Got home, looked up what he meant. Dude was right, I've had this thing for years and never knew about Free McBoot. Spent the next 4 hours loading games off a USB stick. Who else has been put in their place by a random kid on retro gear?
Nah I gotta disagree here man. You paid $10 for a console that was perfectly fine as is and now you're loading games off a USB stick that probably lags on cutscenes lol.
The USB loading works fine on most games honestly lol. Grab a network adapter and an internal HDD though if you want smooth cutscenes on stuff like Final Fantasy X. I ran into the same thing with my first softmod - thought it was perfect until I hit those skips during big battles. Worth the $10 for the learning experience alone.
