NES vs SNES for retro game collecting right now is no contest
I mean I love my NES but finding clean copies of games under $20 is basically impossible around here. SNES carts seem way cheaper and easier to find at garage sales and flea markets. Last weekend I grabbed Super Mario World and Zelda A Link to the Past for $12 total. Has anyone else noticed the NES tax hitting harder than the SNES tax lately or is it just my area?

Yeah the NES tax is real, my best finds lately have all been SNES lots under $10 each.

The "NES tax" is real, I've seen it in other stuff too like old VCRs and even certain board games. People just assume older = more valuable, but supply is actually way higher than you'd think. Like I found a bin of NES games at a garage sale last month and the guy wanted $20 each because they're "classics", meanwhile I literally walked away with a box of SNES games for a buck a piece from the same sale.

Noticed the same thing with old game consoles at pawn shops, NES stuff is always marked way higher than SNES.
